How should I clean oiled leather?

We would recommend waxed leather spray, firstly you should remove the surface dirt with a stiff brush and then spray the boots thoroughly. Be sure to allow the boots to dry naturally in a cool environment, if you try to speed up the process the oily finish to the leather can dry out.
If you have noticed that this has happened to your Red Wing oiled leather boots you could use mink oil as instructed to rejuvenate the oily finish.
What is roughout leather?

Rub the boot down with a stiff bristle brush, this will remove the top layer of dust and dirt. you should then rub down the boot with a clean damp cloth and then polish the boot with leather conditioner. Before it has dried buff the boot to create a high shine finish.

Due to the sheer quality of the leather produced there it quickly grew and in 1986 it was bought by Red Wing. The tannery still follows the same techniques used 100 years ago when it first opened. Red Wing consider owning their own tannery a huge advantage as they have control over quality and know they are producing the best quality leather possible. What is Oro Russett leather?

This is a famous Irish leather, it is a deep reddish brown colour which is tanned with sequoia bark sap. The leather is made by Red Wing’s own tannery and has a glossy and healthy finish.
What traditional machinery do they use at The Red Wing Factory?

Red Wing try to maintain traditional techniques to produce premium, high quality pieces. A good example of this is when they decided to upgrade their tumble mill. This is an essential piece of machinery with a rotating drum where tanning liquids, dyes and oils are fed to the leather hides. The management at Red Wing were unhappy with the finish of leather produced by the new metal drum and so reverted to using the pine wooden drum which has been in use since the company was founded.
